The Elusive Nap

Snackers thought he had the day off yesterday but around mid-afternoon he got called in to work after all to do a couple of small jobs (YAY! we need the dough!) so he was still gone when I got off work and I decided it would be an opportune time for a nap!  Wouldn't you know it, almost just before my head hit the pillow my phone went off with a text message from my mom.  I told her I was laying down for a nap and would talk later and she was cool with it.  No sooner did I get settled in then Vladdy started to bark for no apparent reason so I had to shut him up.  No sooner did I lay back down and just start to nod off than Snackers came home and that was that.  Snackers does his best to facilitate napping for me but he's not very good at it.  It is not entirely his fault because I have become an EXTREMELY light sleeper but still ... I knew the moment I heard him coming up the stairs that sleep was out of the question.

We picked through to-go boxes from the fridge for dinner and then headed out to grab just a few quick grocery items (like coffee) to supplement us for the week.  When we got home I sat down in my recliner and started to study but quickly realized I was going to lose the sleep war so I laid down on the floor with a pillow, afraid that if I expended enough energy to get up and go in to the bed that I would wake myself up too much and wouldn't be able to sleep.

It seems like almost immediately Vladdy started a high pitched whining sound which means 'I need to go potty' so Snackers took him outside but in his excitement on the way out the door he stepped on my head.  I moved to the sofa to protect myself but when he got outside he started to bark at the neighbors BBQ grill and that was the end of the nap take two.

Somehow, however, I did manage to stumble to bed sometime around 9 p.m. and remained asleep until Kody woke me up around 5:30 this morning.  But at least I got caught up!

Oh by the way: I picked up a box of weight watchers dark chocolate and raspberry ice cream bars from Wal-Mart last night.  80 calories per ice cream and really pretty good!

  1. You've made such good progress. Keep your water intake high though! That's a huge part of success. Have a great weekend (we're almost there)!.

  2. Ha! The story of my life. Fortunately, when I really crash, I crash hard enough to sleep through a full volume Bob the Builder.
