Weigh-In #45

I normally post, each day, about the previous day's events but I jumped the shark yesterday and posted about yesterday!  So today I have nothing much to say!

Another roller coaster ride gain - 228.0.  But I can't stop looking at those pictures of myself at the Atomic Testing Museum ... especially the one where I have my hands on my hips.  Those arms ALMOST look normal!  I'm happy today.  A little retention gain from being out in the sun at the Nature Preserve isn't going to get me down.  I'm happy.  Happy, happy, happy.  I found out you can get a one-year membership to the Preserve so you can go back and go hiking any time you want, they have events all year and you can get in to some of those for free and get 50% off on others (like the wine tasting in October) and I think I'm going to go for it.  It's kind of a long drive but it is a really beautiful place to go hiking and it's a lot closer than Red Rock.

On the other hand the entry fee is HIGHLY affordable in and of itself (only $10) and membership is $50 so if I thought I was going to visit at least 5 times in one year it would be worth it but, otherwise, it would be better to just pay each time.  Decisions, decisions.  I'm going to put some feelers out to Tia and Cass and see if they want to join up with me, if they do then we can drag each other at least 5 times to make sure we get the most out of our membership but, on my own, I'd probably waste it.  I don't think they allow doggies though - booooo.

  1. The trick to doing this sort of thing regularly, and getting your money's worth as well as stay active at it, is to schedule it in your calendar for a specific time/day every month.

Make it a monthly "thing" you "just do".

Like, the first Sunday morning of every month.

  2. I wish you guys lived closer! We could go kayaking, and hiking and do all kinds of fun things together if you did. When I get to item 7 on my list (Hike Angels Landing) I'd love it if you could join us, as long as it's not in the snow this time. ;)

Slowly but surely I'm turning into mom, have you noticed? I now have her haircut, my hair is thinning like hers did when she was my age, I'm afraid of heights now, and I love water. I skipped the ice chewing phase she went through but now she and I both order our water 'no ice, no lemon' at restaurants and neither of us even knew that the other did that until we went out to eat together the last time Shawn and I were in Utah. I ordered my water, mom said "I'll have the same thing" and dad started laughing at us.
