Bad Weekend

I wrote a post on Saturday morning and then my bad weekend started with a phone call and I forgot all about it until this morning.  I did my treadmill routine and was about to start yoga when my phone rang and Snackers said "Don't freak out, I need to tell you something" ... that's never good.  Turns out he cut his hand open at work, bad, and was at the emergency room awaiting stitches.  His boss's wife picked me up and took me to the hospital to sit with him - he cut a tendon in the back of his hand so the ER put 11 superficial stitches in it to keep the wound closed but he has to make an appointment today to see a specialist sometime this week to see if he's going to need surgery and they put a huge splint on his entire hand from mid-forearm to just past his fingertips.

After we left the ER we headed back to his work to drop off the paperwork for workman's comp. and then went to Costco to get his prescriptions filled.  I didn't know this but Costco on Saturday afternoon is NUTS!  Busy, busy, busy!!!  We were there for over an hour waiting on his scrips and then we came home and I had to help him undress to take a bath because he's one-handed.  I washed the blood out of his uniform by hand and then put it in the washing machine and there was a LOT of blood.  Once he was clean we went to get dinner and then came home to let him rest.

Yesterday we woke up and went to breakfast, then went by the nursery to get some pots and potting soil and then when we came home he laid down to take a nap while I took the trash out to the curb, potted our 12 new trees from the arbor foundation, and then cleaned up the mess.  By then he was awake again and had to go back over to his work to fill out some paperwork for the workman's comp claim, then we tried to grab dinner but it was 9 p.m. and everything was closed that we tried except Denny's.  They were under-staffed so we were there for an hour just waiting to get our food, which was horrible, and then we went to do our grocery shopping and I fell into bed as soon as we got home.  I feel for Snackers, poor dude - but in addition to his cut it seemed like everything in the universe was working against us this weekend.

p.s. I got on the treadmill pre-workout on Saturday and had another 1/2 lb loss.  That was the "good news" that I had promised and then didn't get the chance to post.

  1. Sorry to hear about what happened to Snackers. I hope he heals well and soon. Keep thinking positive thoughts and do your best to stay in control. It can be tough to do during times like these, when so much will rest on you, but I have faith you can do it. :)

  3. Oh my gosh!! Sorry to hear about Snackers! I hope he doesn't need surgery, and that he makes a full, and speedy recovery!
Great news about the weight loss. Good for you, I'm so happy for you that the scale is moving in the right direction for you again. Great job on hanging in there even when you were having results that were not what you wanted!
